Thumbs down 24V TPS clean / repair ???

Looking back through old threads regarding TPS's, I came across one "Pappyman" tore down a TPS and cleaned it out. The one he did was off of an older truck. Has anybody had one apart off of a 24V. Mine is a '00 shifting in / out of OD. It seems to only do it when it's below 20 deg. F Dealer say's my TPS is toast. Thanks for the info!!

Sorry for the stress.

It can be cleaned with brake cleaner, but it sounds temp related. Have you checked the tranny temp sensor? It will not allow lock up if it thinks your tranny is under 100 degrees. I think that is the right temp. Pull the wire off the sensor and plug in a 10K resistor from radio shack and see if the prob. goes away.

According to my trusty dealer "diesel" mechanic, the temp sensor will cause it to kick out of overdrive and not allow it to go back with out stopping. I have had this issue in the past but only when it's 30 - 40 below. Right now it acts like the tranny is in between 3rd and overdrive. This morning I drove for 40 miles, the temp was 15 deg. When it warmed up to about 20 - 25 deg. the issue went away. I do not know either way. Thanks for the input!

1k (1000 ohms) is the correct size to jump acoss the temp sender.
