2002 Dodge Ram 2500 manual

I’m currently looking at a 2nd gen 24v with around 200,000 and figured after looking through this forum you guys could give me advice if I should pursue it or not. The truck seems to be in good shape with just the usual dodge rust under the rear fender wells. I’ve driven the truck and it seems to run okay there are just a couple things that concerned me when looking at the truck.

First there are certain parts on the frame that look rusted out but given I live in the Midwest that’s expected a little, I’ll include a picture below. Second the dealer said that the truck has been in a diesel shop before he bought at auction for I quote “6 grand of work” this was the major red flag for me as I don’t know if it was performance upgrades or a major fix. The truck also looked like it was decently leaking from the bottom end.

Whats your guys opinions should I actually be interested and buy the truck? Should I ask to take it to a diesel shop before purchase to have them look through it? Or should I just not even consider the truck and keep looking elsewhere?

A) Don't trust anything a dealer says
B) That's normal rusting for an almost 20 year old truck
C) Quit taking pictures of my trucks oil pan

I just test drive em and go with my gut

Used vehicles are always a risk....
