2002 7/100 warranty
2002 7/100 warranty
Hi - I'm new to the forum and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I bought a Dodge Ram in June 2002 and it was DEFINITELY during a warranty period offering 7/100 on the drivetrain. Well, my 37,000 mile-old drivetrain needs work and every service manager I talk to scratches his head and and says all warranties end at 36K. Just from reading a few posts in here I see that other people have the same 7/100 or 7/70 deal on their 2002 truck. Can someone please help me out in how I can verify this to these service managers, or can someone email/fax me a copy of any documentation of this warranty offer in 2002? Thanks so much for whatever you can do!
Are you saying that you purchased an extended drivetrain warranty but lost all your documentation? "Offered" and "purchased" are two separate animals. Nothin' is free. Who did you purchase the extended warranty through? Any Wild A$$ guess on the name of the company?
Heck, are we even talking Cummins Turbo Diesel?
I still get those offers in the mail for extended warranty's.
BTW, welcome aboard.

The 7/100,000 "powertrain" only refers to the Cummins engines and it's components.
Stuff like transmissions, drive shafts, axles and such were covered under the 3/36,000.
(oh, moving this to the 2nd gen forum, as only the 2002 1500's were "3rd gen")

www.dodge.com only goes back to 2003 but here is a link to the 2003 warranty
http://www.dodge.com/crossbrand/warr..._ram_truck.pdf
What exactly do you need fixed?
Basically you pay somewhere around $100 for warranty work after the 3/36 but before the 7/100....assuming the components fall under the 7/100 warranty coverage.
Please fill out your signature so we know what options you have.

The 2002 model year did have a 7/100k standarad drivetrain warranty. This warranty was not the Cummins warranty and it did cover the complete drivetrain. This was a warranty offered to compete with competitors offering the same at that time. My truck also has this warranty. I beleive there is a supplement in the glove box with all the other paperwork. If you refer to your contract, it is listed there.
suspicous activity
Thanks to all who have replied! After literally about 10 phone calls and reading an entire internet article on "The history of Dodge warranties" into the voice-mail of a Dodge representative, I finally got a call from someone who says the 7/100 was indeed in effect for my truck. I still have yet to get anything in writing as far as them covering my repair, but at least this is a start. I hate to say it, but it's very suspicious the way EVERYONE from Dodge was avoiding my questions, acting confused, and telling me there was never a 7/100 warranty in 2002 - almost like they were all specifically told to respond like they didn't know. It was less than 3 years ago for goodness sake! I love my Dodge truck, but maybe they're regretting the warranty.

I checked my glovebox stack of junk.
There is a deductable after the 3/36K is over.
The 7/100K was also an incentive to clear the lots of the remaining 2002's because the 3rd gen 2003's were coming.

Nope-- the "bumper to bumper" part is just 3/36. Powertrain warrantee is 7/70-- this is engine, trans, axles, hubs, etc.
Cummins does not warrant the engine, Dodge does. So if Dodge only gives you 7/70, that's all you get on the engine.
Used to be that the Cummins got a 7/100 while other engines got 7/70, but I think that THIS is what changed.
