2002 2500 value.

Im looking to sell my 2002 2500. I think it has 159000 miles, 5.9, auto, 4wd extended cab with power seats. Cloth interior. The truck is red and silver. The injection pump has about 15000 miles on it and ive had a fuel gauge on it since I replaced it. Transmission fluid was replaced last year. No residue in the pan was found. What should I list this truck at? I would say its in b/t fair and good condition. The body is straight, dash has typical cracks. No rust. Tires are probably 25%.

KBB lists your truck at around $10K in fair condition, this should give you an idea of where to start.

Have you checked Craigslist, or bulletin boards (sell papers), to see what similar trucks in your region are running? You could also contact your bank and see what the loan value is on it.

Check CL and calculate an average price of listings.
Up here in Canada you could sell it for between $13k-18k. I've seen 02's listed for $19-20k for a low mileage pristine cummins. It really depends on your location.

It all depends on how clean it is. I bought my 02' with 60k miles a few months ago and paid 18.5k, but a SLT Laramie single owner was worth it in the end. If yours is a one owner, and is decently clean I would suggest starting at like 16 or 16.5 and working your way down. The later 2nd gens really hold their value well, and IMO, KBB pricing seems low compared to what most people are asking, especially when the trucks are not beat.

My 01.5 is kinda low in the KBB for what it is. I see them around here for 15K and up.

My truck is in excellent condition with 106000 miles. I wouldn't let it go for less than 20K.

25% tires = $600 - $800 expenditure within a year. 159000 = new suspension including steering box probably now. Gauges without fuel system = price of FASS or AirDog + install now. Just now changing tranny fluid? Potential rebuild in the near future. What fluid leaks do you have engine? Vac/PS?, transfer case?, trans seals?, engine front & rear main? Ball joints been done? Has the alternator been rebuilt? Cracked dash = $300 + paint + install. Might as well do the AC & heater core while the dash is out. Sounds like you're unloading before you take the big hits. Only the engine is good for 500k with oil as the only maintenance.

I would check listings in your area. On a Dodge specific bulletin board it is very common for guys to overvalue their truck.
