value difference 1997-2002
Here is a question for you Western Canada CTD owners. I have a 1997 slt Laramie 190,000 km club cab in very good condition. I am looking at upgrading to a 2002 short box 97000 km in very good condition. What is a ballpark figure on the difference in value and what should expect to pay from a dealer using the 97 as trade?
Any advice would be appreciated.

We need to know more specifics. Is it loaded ? 4x4? 2wd? any other options?
Edit: i see you said Slt Laramie , so it is pretty well loaded up. If it was a regular cab i might be interested in it....

Both are 4x4, both slt laramie, both auto, both in excellent shape. No mods to either.
The dealer is trying to smother me with figures and baffle-gab about why there is such a big difference in my trade and his truck. I figure the difference in retail value of each + some profit for him should be about right. any ideas?

You may not like my call but.....on a trade
If the 02 is a Qcab I would say 9-10 large
1,500 for the Qcab
1,000 per year
and 2,000-2,500 for the mileage difference
You would do better buy selling privatly and buying on a cash sale.
There is starting to be a large demand for 12vs and the dealers wont pay you more for one. The QCab is one of the biggest selling draws on the 2nd gens. Good luck

just a guess but i'd say your 97 is probably worth $12k-$14k CDN at a dealer. Maybe more. They pull the numbers out of the black book usually. Go to www.chrysler.ca, then to the menu titled "owners" and look at the menu on the left side of the screen. You should see estimate trade in value. that will give you a pretty good idea.
hope that helps
