2000 dodge lots of questions

Just picked up a 2000 dodge 3500 dually qc lb its got leather and all the goodies. The rear doors on the quad cab wont open. I keep spraying them and playing with them is there a trick to get them to open they seemed to have siezed. I cant get either one open so i dont know what the latches look like. The bottom on eac door seems to be the one sticking.
Thanks Eric

If the doors are sticky might try climbing in the back and using the inside handle and leaning your shoulder into the the door, rather than pulling too hard on the handle in the door jam area.

If they are actually sticking that hard the alignment would have to be way off, may want to look deeper into why.

Do they move at all, or are they rigid? Might want to take the truck to a body shop and have them give it a try- don't want to break something in the process.
How do the front doors behave? If the cab is twisted or tweaked, you would think that you would have issues with the fronts, too.

The front doors are fine te rears were rarely used by the previous owner and the bottom latches seem to be rusted to the point they won't open pulled the inside panel and the lever is workingthw top opens just the bottom won't release.

if you have the panel off then see if you can disconnect the lower latch rod and lift it up if its rusted it gonna take force and some PB(penetrating oil)

Soak it in KROIL then give it a pull/push at the bottom of the door where the catch is.

Didn't use the rear doors?!? I laugh to think how many guys have Club Cabs that would love to have a quad with operating doors and the PO of this rig never used 'em!!

Move the seat forward & take the panel off the rear door. Then reach inside & move the rod that controls the upper & lower latch. You'll figure it out after you look.

Download the 01 FSM so you know how the panel is held on. That way you won't break anything.

What happens is that 1 or both rods become disconnected. You may need to pull the part where the rods connect & straighten it out with pliers. You need an 8mm socket.

Looks like he got the panels off and the rods are working according to his second post.

Soak the catches in KROIL or PBlaster overnight and try it again.

I sprayed them up really good still no luck. The door latch is hooked up top and bottom and pulls the latch on both ends. Can some one throw up a picture of the bottom latch because I have no idea what they even look like.

Got a BFH? (Be gentle but shocking). If the latch moves, perhaps rust is holding.

I agree with Hodge. Had the same problem with mine. Ended up taking off the top latch trim panel and unbolting the loop that the latch catches on, then prying the bottom of the door out enough to get at the bottom latch. I than chiseled out the latch. It's mostly made of plastic around the latches. Ended up with a small dent on both rockers. Still have not found a replacement bottom door latch

If it has the child safety latches it will not open from inside the cab . unlock and try from the out side and have someone put pressure on the door from inside. I had this happen on a car before. My .02
