1998 Dodge 12 valve with 24 valve emblem??
I found a gem today for sale! 1998 DODGE RAM 2500 4X4 with only 68,000 miles on it. A real clean truck for sure! My question is the owner says its a 12 valve even though it has 24 valve emblems on the front quarter panels? I understand that '98 was the change over year from 12 to 24 valve engines, but was it common that the factory put the wrong emblems on some trucks?
Ask for a picture of the motor, as that will answer the question.
I own a '98 12V myself. They where only made for 3 months, so they are not very common.
Going by what the emblems ON THE DOOR say, is not the best way to tell what motor is under the hood. If the emblems are on the front quarter panels, they are not factory.
The 24V and 12V are different enough, I could literally tell the difference blindfolded just by feel. Look for the massive one piece valve cover top...If you see it then it is a 24V.
