Club cabs were available well after the introduction of the 24v. '01 sounds like the time I've heard that they were scrapped.

It's commercial. No plans for a camper shell or bed cover that I know of.

I could be wrong because I've been before, but I don't remember the CC being available after 99 or 00.

In CA an open bed truck is registered as a commercial vehicle. The registration is based on curb weight which in the case of a diesel truck is EXPENSIVE.

If you put a shell on the truck you can get it registered as a passenger vehicle. This brings the cost way down BUT they code the plate like a car. If you get caught by a cop driving around with those plates and an open bed (no shell) prepare to pay big bucks.

I was in line at the DMV once and overheard a guy complaining to another guy in line about the cost of commercial plates for a pickup. The second guy said one benefit is if you need to run into a building real fast you can legally double park with your hazzards on and not get a ticket. I didn't research the vehicle code to see if this was true so take it with a grain of salt. It makes sense because I always see delivery trucks doing this and the cops don't seem to care.

Anyway I hope this answers your question.
