That is crazy, I've been on a 22% grade (Mt. Washington auto road) and that is very scary, with a few thousand foot drop-off a few inches from the edge of the "road"! Other people hogging the road can make it impossible there, barely enough room for one vehicle at times. That is a short section/s of that grade, average over the road is 12%.

Back to topic, I've had great luck with autozone rotors, had them for about 100k (and Bendix? pads). I try not to stay standing after a hard stop. They are getting worn, but I can still stand on the pedal and the wheel doesn't flinch.
