ratlratl and the S67
First problem?
Still running Blactec ME15 for around 4,000 miles or so. Today at startup I get the "ding". No big deal I think, just reset the Oil Change Required and go. However it isn't that. It's two dings and the EVIC overhead says Service Required See Dealer Now . I've been searching on here and other sites, plus a Google search for how to reset it. Whole lotta nothing found. Tried the two brake pedal, two acc pedal & then the two brake pedal, three acc pedal. What next? TIA.

Hey Blake. I used the Smarty to but it says no DTC's found. I looked in the Service Manual and got nothing there as how to reset. It made reference to the Catalyst Full message and saying that will give it a code. Just have to wait I guess.

Strange. You would think the SEE DEALER NOW message would at least warrant the comforting and warm amber glow of our favorite dash light.
Your right the catalyst full message does give the light. Ive only seen the see dealer now once and assumed it threw a light and code like the catalyst full and the Edge cleared it.
Ive got to go pick up my truck at the dealership Monday (or Tuesday) and have a great relationship with the service manager and can make an inquiry. (He's a diesel enthusiast too and actually understands what and WHY we do what we do to our trucks)

I just had this also
James at RSD advised I reload stock sw and then reload whatever sw I wanted. It cleared overhead but I did not like how things went. The smarty would read two codes after being put back to stock, I could clear these but during key cycle the smarty instructs to do the truck would regen these codes every time. End result was I got to reinstall sw1 with codes (manual says dont do this). In the end it has worked without the overhead coming back on or without the DTC's coming up.
My codes were related to having things unplugged at stock setting. I suppose I could have started plugging stuff back in.
I would like to know what the overhead was alarmed about, all it said was "service required" "see dealer now". I have read this is the crank case filter. Be nice if this threw a real code with real meaning instead of "mystery machine wants you to donate to chrysler - now"
Here is link to how to clear overhead from other forum. Not sure if this is exactly what you tried already. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I went out and set it back to stock. Came inside and redid the 15ME into my Smarty and then put it back into the truck as it was. Message went away and no codes. You're right about the "mystery machine wants you to donate to chrysler - now" I wasn't gonna have any part of that.

That is hilarious. I hope I don't have to experience this bermuda triangle event, but at least it appears there is a Windows PC solution (restart)...
I will be towing and really running for this first time with the ME this weekend. Looking forward to it. Finally!

Bad news
Overhead came back on. Ran about two weeks after re-load of stock then re-load of sw1 without overhead going off. Came on today, smarty still sees no DTC's. Called Bob Wagner, he took info and said he would ask Marco about this and call me back. Will post anything learned.
Reset using the brake and gas pedals as described in link. Did reset some things (O/H went from 20.2 mpg to 3.5 mpg), did not get rid of see dealer / donate now message.
Think I'll start a new thread, I am curious if other devices read this in the ECM. I think it is in the ECM otherwise the re-load to stock and then back to sw1 would not have any effect.

i've had this before, too
I just reloaded the catcher software without returning to stock. was on sw3 went to sw 5 or something like that. message went away, hasn't come back but it's only been a 2 or 3 thousand miles since.
The belief by some on one of the other forums is that this could be some sort of "background timer" telling the truck to regen after so many miles whether it needs to or not. That's just speculation, though.
jeff.

Chris,
I picked up my truck today, but the service manager was out so I asked the other service writer. He just looked at me like I asked him to give me the square root of pi. He even asked "whats a Smarty?" Figures.
Oh, and I should have listened to you and not cut that ignition wire, shouldve just tapped it....
Just pulled the edge off of the truck. About to order an insight for gauges ( ive got a sale on the eja) and then gonna pull the trigger on the smarty. One question, what did you do with your EGR? Did you delete or is it still in place.

It's still there. Just unplugged, un-actuatored and blocked off at the tube. All as per Mads instructions. I'd like to do a full delete package including taking off the cooler as well. Someday.

Oh yeah! Did the install on the ratlratl button everything seemed to work fine. I had cut the violet/brown wire and wired me a bypass, couple of male/female butts connecters wired to the kick panel and taped up really good, but left unconnected. This was so that the switch would not work, just the button, but if the button failed, pull the kick panel, untape, plug in and bam.... key works.
Well, a couple of weeks after wiring it up, noticed the backup lights were not working. Me and a bud spent two days trouble shooting and discovered no power coming out of the TIPM (power module). We figured it was either a bad TIPM or the backup light switch, which is intergrated into the tranny by the way.
Figured well, Ill let the dealership hunt it down. Talked with the service manager and told him the mods I had to the truck, he was really great and said if what I modded did not cause any damage they would warranty whatever failed. Well extended warranty anyway, Im 41000 in.
Well Acadiana Dodge spent over 40 hours trying to determine what was wrong. I had several in debt discussion with the tech, who was great also in trying to figure out what was wrong. The TIPM was replaced, it was defective but did not fix the problem. When the TIPM was replace though, the truck went bee-zerk. NO communication between the tranny and the control modules. It would start in gear, not register what gear it was in, show erratic speeds at park. Just went crazy. The tech spent 4 days sorting it out. They finally came to the conclusion that the Edge may have malfunctioned and caused all the hoorah.
Well, they did do me right though, they unhooked the Edge, replaced the TIPM again, and the tranny control module. Got everything working, and WARRANTIED it! The did tell me that if I put the Edge back on and it caused more trouble that I was on my own. I cant say enough about the service I received at Acadiana Dodge, it was above and beyond first rate. They could have stuck me with a bill of well over 3000 dollars, but just charged me the deductible of the extended warranty, 2, yes, just two, hours of the 40 somewhat they worked on it, and tax... a grand total of 318 bucks.
Anyway to finish this long winded post. Yesterday, my bud and I were finishing uninstalling the EJA (thats why im about to order the insight and the smarty) and I noticed that the tech had left my switch bypass plugged in. I unplugged it an taped it back up. When backing out the shop guess what.... NO BACK UP LIGHTS!
Plugged it back in and everything works perfect. So....
The moral of this story....
When Installing a push button starter......
DO NOT CUT THE VIOLET AND BROWN WIRE, JUST TAP IT!!!!!!!
Push Button starter ~ 60 Bucks
Repairs at Dealership for goofing install ~ 318 bucks
Realizing you should just listen to ratl who "errs on the side of idiots" ~
PRICELESS!
