Yet again another Trans Problem...

ive posted before and am now updating where my problem is currently at. i have a 47re trans. when shifting i can count 4 shifts but my problem is that it doesnt shift or lock into OD. Ive replaced TPS with Timbo01 TPS, original tps voltage was at .524 and is now at .625. 4th gear OD/ Lockup Solenoids in trans were replaced. all negative terminals cleaned, i added an extra Neg wire to the TPS ground wire harness just below the TPS to Chassis ground. Rear speed sensor replaced. Shift kit is also installed (this was installed prior to having these problems). These are the things i have gotten around to doing before having to start spending big $$

Here lies my problem. No OD Lockup. When truck is cold shifting from 1st to 2nd to 3rd requires me to accelerate and release pedal to shift. when truck is at normal operating temp truck wont shift into 1st even when i put the shifter into 1st, it will only go into 2nd. when shifting from 2nd into 3rd i need to accelerate hard and let off pedal or manual shift into Neutral and back to Drive. From my understanding and from what ive read the shift problem deals with the Gov Pres Sol and Sensor. Ive read many posts and threads.

Where do i go from here? ive read about a manual OD Lockup Switch people are installing. if so how do i go about doing this? if it works what will this tell me? the comp isnt telling the trans to lockup? Is my TPS voltage to high compared to stock? No Codes with OBDII reader.

Im in need of some help as to what i should do next. i dont want to keep throwing money at this and have it not fix anything. id like to go with a new trans but i dont have 4grand lying around, id do a rebuild but i dont want to run back into these issues like others have. Any help is better than no help!

Mike

If you count 4 shifts it IS shifting to OD and there is a lockup. The shifting goes 1, 2, 3, Lockup, Unlock, OD, Lockup. You won't feel the last lockup as it just happens to upshift. You are hitting all gears, but it sounds like there is a problem with the governor, but I don't know enough to get you any farther than that. A tranny shop should be able to diagnose it for you....

undo all that stuff you've done and shield the wiring routed behind the alternator, solder a good chassis ground to the shield and route that ground to the fender/firewall. put some heat shrink over the whole mess to protect it. if the alternator is real old you may need some new brushes in there. happy motoring. greg g.

What he said! Gov pressure solenoid and switch. Diagnosed easy with a pressure test of the tranny. Common problem in these autos.
