Question Will a VP-44 off an HO engine fit/work on an SO engine?

Exactly as the title states. I'm wondering if a VP-44 off an HO engine will fit/work on an SO engine?

the HO's also have a higher compression ratio....i think 17:1...not sure what the SO's are.....i dont know about any change in performance......someone will chime in....

ho's - 245 so's - 235.

if you want more power, get a programmer/box/injectors. just put a so pump on it.

i do also believe the ho's are around 17:1 and i think the so's are 16:1.... not sure though

anyways, point is, dont put a ho pump on a so! now people do put so pumps on ho's for the performance increase. the so pumps have bigger plungers and can push more fuel.

i am, of course, talking about a modded engine.

but if your going to stay stock, and put a ho pump on a so, it IN THEORY should run better. because the ho pump injects fuel at a higher pressure than the so pump, and with the stock so injectors, should make more horsepower. Doug (jetpilot) back when he owned performancedieselwarehouse.com told me that if i switched my ho pump for dads so pump that my previously dyno'd 530 hp HO truck would run much better, and his stock SO truck would run better also. but the ho pump has smaller plungers, which at the upper end of the hp ratings cannot move enough fuel to get a truck much over 500 hp. whereas a so pump is capable of 700+.

take it for what its worth, but i wouldnt put a ho pump on the so truck

i have a hypertech maxenergy, but i think i might get rid of it. i dont have any plans for the near future to built my truck up too much, maybe intake, exhaust, programer. so i guess i'll just keep looking for an SO pump. thanks for all the great input and wisdom

you say "keep looking for a so pump" like your trying to find a used one? i hope this is not the case, because a used vp has a very high chance of being just like the one you have now. check out midwest diesel or olee poole or performance diesel warehouse. ho's and so pumps are the same price. can find them for 1050 usually.

If you have an SO engine, I would only put an SO VP on it. Because of the computers involved, I would think you are just inviting trouble by installing an HO VP on a SO engine, IMHO.
