I had messed up two of the maps - the ones that deal with timing and torque limit from RPM and manifold pressure. Now that I have them in the correct categories, they make much more sense.

Smoke

Made some smoke today messing around with the AFC table. I haven't had a chance to update the web site this weekend, but I have done some work identifying the various governor-related code, and the rest of the limit tables that I'd like to mess with.

More fun later this week when I crank up the main torque limits to match the AFC table I was messing around with.

You are a genius even if it doesn't work out. I am sure that ALL of us are on your side and anxious to see the results of your dedication to the cause. Now can you figure out why the fuel is so $$$$

Some timing info

Here's the effect manifold (boost) pressure has on timing ('01 HO engine):

The scale across the top is manifold pressure in kPa. The scale on the left is the engine speed. The map generates a number that gets added to the base timing (any number less than 512 is automatically set to 512 by the software). To see how much timing is added, take the number from the table (X) and a use the formula:
Degrees = (((X * 10) - 5119) / 128)
Someday I'll 'fix' the romraider so that the cells display in degrees...

Keep up the good work.
I figured out the IAT to voltage last night on my 99. It appears that the outside air temp sensor for the overhead display uses the same thermistor element as the IAT. I noticed a significant change in engine sound at idle when the IAT voltage drops below 3.6V so there must be a timing change occur at that point. Also found a data sheet for a TDK NTC thermistor that has the same curve as the IAT.

*C *F R V
-1 30 40k 4.39v
0 32 34k 4.30v
24 76 13k 3.42v
25 77 10k 3.20v
27 81 6870 2.70v
50 122 3000 1.76v

3.60v = 14.4K

Very nice and thorough analysis! I greatly appreciate the opportunity to read it all.
Thank you!

What happened to this project

I realize this is an ancient thread, but wondered what happened to the website listed and if you ever made any progress on this. I have a Cummins CEM that has an intermittent CCD bus communications failure and was contemplating repairing it. Yes I have worked with SMD parts and know how to solder them.
