What trans fluid??

Not sure when the last trans service on my truck was so im planing on doing it soon, everyone i talk to says use the mopar atf+4 Im not sure i want to buy it at 12 bucks a qt. can i use regular atf without a problem? Im also wondering about amsoil or any other synthetic fluids available can i use them are they good or bad. the trans is all stock and as far as i know original with almost 83k on it. im not going to drain the TC. just drop the pan and replace the filter adjust the bands etc then refill.
any input will be greatly appreciated.

Good for 100,000 miles, but I change it every 50,000 miles

Get it a wally world for 5-6 dollar price. All atf+4 is essentially syn oil with proper additives. You can call it whatever you want for bragging rights. Or just buy one quart of your favorite overpriced oil and point to it on the shelf.
Def use atf+4.

ATF+4 is the only oil to use any other ATF and your asking for trouble. I just did a full flush on the tranny 16L and 4L in the transfercase.

Valvoline is the same as what Mopar uses. Like dozer mentioned, Wal-Mart has it cheaper.

Tranny will take from 5-8 quarts, depending on how well it drains. If you loosen the 10 7/16 cap screws and let the vb drop down a 1/16 inch you can use up to 11 quarts. Most don't do last step.
If you tow regurally I would use syn 75-140. Non towing units use 75-90.
I picked up Valoline syn with LS additive at a NAPA store for $14 qt and they had the 75-90 for less. Non syn is fine also, just need to check for discoloring if non towing rig.

Dozer What Do You Man About Discoloring If Its Not A Towing Rig? I Dont Tow Heravy Normally A Inclosed Sled Trailer. I Have A Slight Rumbleing Noise That Comes And Goes Around 70 To 75 Mph Its Coming From The Rear End Sound Like Maybe A Carrier Bearing Or Something Like That. My Buddy Has A Truck With 4.10s And It Makes The Same Noise. Is This Normal?
