What should my fuel economy be?

I've always wondered what my fuel economy should be on my 98 2500 4wd with 3.55 gears and an automatic. It Usually gets 13 mpg which seemed low to me.A poll of the audience average would be helpful thanks.

I get 20-21 mpg road. Haven't checked around the city. I also get about 16 mpg towing small fifth wheel.

I get anywhere between 15-17 mpg doing a combination of city/highway. I haven't taken a real road trip to guage the mileage yet.

I usually get 18 doing mixed driving. I broke 21 once, coming home in a snow storm, max speed was 90 km/h.

The hills will make a difference, my 99 5spd 4x4 qc got about 13 as well, 75% towing, 75%city, rolling hills.

Pretty steady at 16.5.
Thats a daily drive of both freeway and city.
Ive never seen my truck get above 17.5 even on long trips.

Im guessing tire size, inflation, gearing and timing all play a factor in the final mpg.

Rich.

What size tires are you running? Stock or bigger? I had this same question a while back. Here's a link that will help you out if you are running larger skins.

Hope this helps

Mine with all the mods still got around 16-17 on the freeway with 4.10s. It seems like something is up.

Really only fair to compare with other 4x4 autos, IMO. But your mileage seems a little low.
I get 16 mpg with 50-50 mix.... daily driving. On long trips (75 mph) I'll see 17-17.5 average.
But I don't have to deal with #1 diesel in the winter. Also, be sure you calculate by hand...not by overhead.
