Question what should boost pressure be?

Was reading other posts that mentioned boost pressures of up to 30#. Just recently installed a boost gauge & haven't seen anything over 8#. What is normal? Have I got a problem? Thanks.

Do you mean to say that you only get 8 psi under WOT? 8 lbs is way low.

Check your rubber connections/boots between the turbo and the intake.

WOT = wide open throttle

You've definitely got a problem. My truck on stock setting will push almost 20 psi.

Checked hose, seemed OK. when I installed edge ez box it came with a replacement elbow that had alot smaller hole. Out of curiousity I put the stock elbow back on & am now producing 18psi. What would be the reason for the smaller hole elbow?

Did you just check the clamps? you probably have pin holes in the boots(4) or a leak somewhere. You would have to apply pressure to expand the boots and spray soapy water on them to find the leaks.
You shouldnt of got more boost with the stock elbow. that small hole restricts the exhaust pressure that opens the wastegate if my memory serves me. with the wastgate open , is dumped out the exhaust instead of spinning the turbo.

19 to 20 psi the waist gate should open. 20 pounds is were a none modified truck will run at. I would check with the hoses, the waistgate. they can get stuck open.

Yea 8 lbs is definitely low. I got a max of 20lb when stock. And have now seen up to 35 with the Edge Juice w/ Attitude. Both readings are with the waste gate plugged. I put an 1/8" npt plug in the compressor housing where the wastegate gets its boost signal.

You could've kinked and broke the boost gauge tubing.
