What Kind Of Shocks
What Kind Of Shocks
My shocks are completely shot. After I just rolled 170k its time for some new ones. My truck is mostly my daily driver and I dont tow too often.
What brand of shocks should I get?

Buy 4 and get one free? What would you need a spare for? Most new shocks come with a lifetime warranty.
I just installed the Gabriel Ultra (Heavy Duty type) on my 2001. They are the white ones from Auto Zone. I have been using them on most of my trucks for years and they really do the trick. At $32.00 each, they are pretty cheap too!
If you have the rear sway bar, you are in for a treat when you do the passenger side, rear!

Monroes?
Make double sure that those shocks are recommended for our diesel trucks.
Been looking for some replacements for my Monroe "Sensatracks" which worked great on my Chevy 1/2 ton but the CTD blew them out in 6 months.
Relooking for shocks I notice that those shocks are not recommended for trucks with a 8800 GVWR
put the stock shocks back on the rears and looking hard at some Bilsteins.
Noticed that there aren't very many shocks available for the CTD trucks.
Pick the right kind the first time around

Rancho's?? Not these....
I have the Rancho 5000's purchased from the same place on my truck and I can honestly say that if I had that to do over again I'd pass them up and go with something else. I don't like the ride of my truck empty on bumpy back country roads. It's kind of the BOAT ride where I prefer the ride a little stiffer. Maybe the next model of Rancho up but if you're thinking about the 5000's I'd recommend you keep on looking.
Bilsteins are highly recomended and kind of pricey. Genos has them for around 66 bucks each if I remember correctly. Dad's had 'em on his 94 for about 5 years now and it rides real nice. Those lifetime Gabriel's DRYCREEK's running sound hard to beat pricewise, though and w/ a lifetime warranty to boot. I'm gonna check them out before I spend the dough on B'stiens.
