You get what you pay for! Wonder why some are cheaper than others??
Blue Chip and II use all the new parts available. Blue Chip is stock hp and II HPVP44 is +100 hp.
Cheaper rebuilds just replace what is worn out!
I would never buy a CZ cheap black beauty rebuild for the same cost as USA rebuild!

Some engines are rebuilt just replacing bearings and rings, better engines also get new pistons, crank and rods! Which one costs more?

The injection pumps are not all rebuilt equally!

Rick,

It's been a while since I read the entire thread, but doesn't MWFI put in new electronics AND and all new mechanical parts? If that's the case, why pay more? The HRVP44 comes with 100hp, but you can get that for less than a 800 dollar difference in pump price, and in the end the pumps are going to max out power wise pretty closely. Also, MANY people have complained about idle issues with a HRVP44. So is it really that big of a benefit?

That is what they told me when I inquired about what was replaced. I bought mine from Diesel Performance Parts in Nashville because the pumps they sell are rebuilt in the USA with all new parts as well. Plus, they are local for me, so if there were any problems I don't have to ship pumps back and forth.

vp44 and lift pump

hey guys i have a question i installed a brand new vp44 and stock lift pump about 30000 miles ago. since then ive put a 145hp, box 175hp injectors 5 inch exhaust. it ran great for a while then it started hesitating around 1200 rpm. i pulled in the driveway last nite and it just quit like it was out of diesel. i pulled the filter element and the lift pump was barely pumping anything just some erratic foamy diesel. i couldent ever get it to prime back up even with the fuel lines broke loose. do you think i can save the vp44 with a fass lift pump or is the vp44 shot too

First off, welcome to DTR!

In regards to your VP44, it's tough to say. What's done is done, there ain't no going back in respects to running her dry. You might get lucky and it might still be good, or it's possible you did some damage to it and that it might be bad. Odds are pretty good that if it shut off itself, the VP44 went south on ya.

Anything is possible, but you need a FASS or AirDog anyway. A stock lift pump is just not up to the task if you ask me. If the VP bit the dust, you are gonna need one of those too.

I received my VP44 on time from www.mwfi.com. It looks like it was made in CZ and it only came with a lock washer and a nut, it did not have a new O ring with it so I'm stuck with a tore apart truck for the next 4 days until I get a new one. Also if I knew it was made in CZ and not rebuilt in house I would of ordered the cheapest one on the market from a different company.

This must be why mwfi sells them so cheap they are rebuilt in rep of CZ?

If you compare the BC at $1600 vs the II for $1900 you can't get a 60 hp ez for $300! No wires to tap!

So i guess that begs the question, whats the issue with being rebuilt in CZ?

Do a search on CZ pumps or black beautys! Lots of failures.

I think at the end of the day, Blue Chip is the only place you know for sure that you get a new computer. "New Electronics"? what does that mean? I think it means it meets current specs, that's all. Blue Chip supplies tools and eveything needed to get this on, including good instuctions. Why does BC cost $500 more? Could it be the new computer & built better?
I do not think I have ever seen a BC gone bad or had a problem on this site.
The Admin bought one, after 2 others. I think that syas a lot.
My $.02.

I have a silly question. I am going to attempt to put my vp44 on my 2001 cummins. I have installed injection pumps on tractors where you can have the IP 180 degrees off and then your motor won't start. Is it the same on the VP44 pump or is it pretty much a no brainer on the install?

No brainer install. Take out with the keyway on top, put back in with the keyway on top. Gear never gets a chance to move.
