Any one know if there is a better/cheaper pressure sending unit than the one for the Westach fuel pressure guage? Genos has them for like $49, which I will pay if I have too, but quite honestly, I think they are kind of cheap pieces of junk. Will a different style/brand work?

Was coming home yesterday and noticed my fuel pressure was all over the place, in direct proportion to the foot feed. So I changed the filter, but in the process, one of the terminals let loose on the sending unit, and now I get max or 0 psi, swapped the wires, messed around a little bit, and the same. Just trying to get a good idea if the filter was plugged or if my 2 month old fuel pump is out.

put a temp or permanant mechanical gage teed in with the other sending unit to verify the electric gage I did that for my digital fuel pressure gage from summit racing that cost lest the $49 for both the sender and the gage. BUT I still have a mechanical gage under the truck on the frame ED

 

Always confirm that your fuel pressure gauge is actually reading wrong before you go tearing things apart. And where do you have your sender located? If its to close to the VP it will be destroyed by the pulses that the VP emits back in the fuel line. That said the sender should also be located after the filter which puts it in harms way of those pulses. A good way to get around this is using a tapped fitting on the output side of the housing and then run a secondary hose (preferably rubber) about three feet up to the sender mounted somewhere you choose.
