Weight on Front Axle

In the FWIW department, and in response to a question from a friend, I weighted my front axle on the scales at a state weigh station. We all know the CTD front end is heavy but I don't remember anyone ever posting exact weight?
Actually less % than I would have guessed.

With me out of the truck and full fuel....
Front axle ......... 4460 lbs
Total Truck Wt.... 7310 lbs
Front axle carries 61% of the total wt.

Good info - that's the reason for the front\rear brake bias which gets so much bad press, here.

Standing to the side of the truck with the hood up, notice how forward-biased the engine is to the front axle center-line.

My 95 is about the same...4500 front, 4100 rear. But that's with a flatbed and toolboxes on it

Without the flatbed, it's only 2400 rear

Remember when you weigh your truck this way, make sure you have exactly half the truck over the scale. No more, no less. Any variance and the weights will be off and therefore your weight biases will be off also.
The only real way to do this is with individual scales at each wheel.

Sorry but that logic is off. Your weight will be the same on the axle no matter how much of the truck is on the scale.

Yeah - a statement like that kinda blows away the laws of physics, don't it?

I stand corrected.

The axle not on the scale acts as the fulcrum.

I was thinking about the edge of the scale as the fulcrum.
