positive you got the 50hp DD injectors? maybe a screw up in your favor or does the SOP meter not believe this could be true?

kind of the opposite problem as you ramcummins,
my '02 ETH could barely get to 1250* with comp and DD3's (stock turbo, BHAF, 5000' elevation), went for 6 months of driving like i stole it without a problem. i never changed out the pyro to compare its accuracy. maybe i was just lucky but it still confuses me to this day...

Well I tested mine and my cousins pyros side by side as well as with an infarred laser thermometer. 1 of the tests I did was holding a lighter under the probe for 30 seconds. his read 500* and mine read 825* a difference of 325* . So I think my pyro is off a little. I ordered a new pyro this morning, when it gets here I will put it on and try that, if no difference, I guess it will be the good ole' process of elimination . Keep the ideas rolling in and I will let ya know what the outcome is when the new pyro gets here.

P.S. Mopar,
My usuall altitude travel is 5,000-10,000 ft.
Where I live it is aprox 5,800. and I do a lot of mountain travel, as well as some 13% grades.

That accounts for some of you heat... But the rest of it might be you pyro probe... Being there is about 350*F difference! Ouch!

I think you go it fixed there...

My new pyro should arrive today so I'll be doing some testing also... if I see a 300 degree difference, that would explain why I melted a piston when my pyro was reading in the 1200 range.

Sorry it took so long to get back to ya'll but it ended up being my cousins pyro that was off.

I thought before ran all the wires permanently I would just put the new pyro (DI-Procal) in and run the wires to the cab via the door jam and go test. Well the outcome was the same readings I was getting with my old pyro. (Autometer) so I called my cousin and we unscrewed his probe (DI-Procal) and screwed in my new one and got about the same readings as with my truck, thus determining it is something with his pyro. So by process of elimination we screwed his probe back in and unpluged his guage and pluged in my new guage to his old wireing and it read the same as my truck, hence a bad guage on his truck. Needless to say, neither one of us are very excited because my truck is still running hot and, and my cousin just found out that he has been running upwards of 1500* .

So I guess my temps should be pretty close to normal.

So, right back to the start, What casues the heat????

I've got an '01 HO 6spd with EZ, BHAF, 4 in exh, hauling a 11'6" tall slide in camper and usually towing a 7k trailer, all at altitude (home is 6800 ft, everything else is higher from here)
To run 75 mph (with NO headwind), I'm showing 15 psi boost and 1050* on the pyro. Anything over 25 psi boost will show 1250*, and I have to back out of it.
Westbound trips on I-80 thru Wyoming I'm showing 1000*-1050* degrees at 15-18 psi boost all day long.

With your bigger injectors, I think you've reached the limit of your HX35 turbo, especially at the altitude you're at.
I know I can't go bigger injectors on my rig without going with a bigger turbo to cool off the added fuel.

Just a thought...
