Vulcan FP tester,Westach gauge, or both

I have been looking around for a good way to keep up with the fuel pressure to my VP44.

Would I be better off to by the more economical mechanical fuel pressure tester and regularly keep a check on my lift pump and injection pump, or should I buy a gauge which will provide more real-time information but also be slightly more expensive.

I am looking at the following:

http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo....ULCAN_TEST_KIT

and

http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo....ber=WM-FPKT-16.

If I go with the gauge, the setup instructions on the genos website state that there is some fabrication involved for 01-02 trucks related to tapping into the fuel lines. For anyone running the Westach gauge, how difficult is it to install?

I run a Westach gauge... have for over 4 years. I have the sender mounted on the air horn under the hood and I bought the short "brake line" hose from Genos I think back then that hooks to the schrader valve under the hood near the inlet to the VP44. Worked fine and was simple to hookup with that hose. Then just run the wires into the gauge in the cab. I've been on the same sender for this entire time although I did add a needle valve to lessen the pulses of the fuel from hurting the sender. Only thing I have to do about every year is clean the contacts on the sender. It starts to give odd false readings sometimes and that clears it up.

When I went with a bigline kit, I got parts from various places to put my system together. I kept the sender, but the rest is custom. From GDP, Vulcan Performance and a local hose shop here in town.

If Genos still has the "brake hose" available, it's pretty easy... at least it was on my 01.

The majority of people go with mechaical gauges, fewer problems, more accurate.
