VP44- Worst IP ever?

AFAIK they do- but with a different software or calibration.
Something that does not sound right with the temperature argument is that all of them are in a kind of noise suppression coffin over here. (At least in the passenger cars) and they just have the fuel they suck from the tank through the filter etc for cooling.
But it is to be said that the engines where we have the VP44 are usually about half the cylinder size, and rev a lot higher. I think that the problem may be that there is not enough fuel for cooling because with the CTD (especially bombed ones) the amount injected per revolution is extremely high compared to what the Euro engines consume per injection.

I got 205K out of my VP44 and just about 190K out of the original lift pump. I installed a fuel pressure guage as soon as I got the truck though. If the pressure came down very much at all I changed the filter. I live and drive my truck in one of the hottest areas in the country (105*-115*)and although I had to deal with dead pedal disease for about 20k miles or so, at least it didnt die right away. M&D rebuilt mine here localy. Got about 3k miles on it. So far so good.
