Question VP44 model number location ?

I'm about to order a new VP44 and I need to find the model number on my old one. I looked at it with the flashlight and I could see a plate with a barcode on it. Is it on that? (It must be pretty small if it is.)

Get a mirror to help out. Look on the side of the VP nearest the drivers fender. The numbers can be hard to read.

I don't know who you are buying your pump from, but the reman distributors will be able to take your year and match you up to a pump. It's just a common SO model.

Hey, I need one too. Maybe if we combine our efforts we can get a better discount....LOL. Probably wishful thinking.

My uncle works for an injection pump company, BOSCH certified w/all new state of the art testing equipment and the best price I get is $1046 w/1yr warranty unlimited mileage. Probably where I'm going to buy mine. If you're interested, send me a pm.

Below the bar-code sticker you will find the Bosch part number starting with “047” for a ‘98 truck. Here is a photo of mine. And don't forget the latest version pump bracket is Cummins part # 3938707. The '98 bracket is prone to braking and will kill the pump.

The 98 & 99 model year had a bracket at the back of the VP and connects to the engine block. This bracket is just a strip of steel with one bolt to the VP and two torx bolts to the engine block. Its purpose is to support the VP and prevent damaging vibrations. The front of the VP is bolted to the aluminum gear case and is not enough support it by itself.

Many of these brackets will break where the one bolt connects to the VP. Cummins redesigned this bracket to prevent the break by really beefing up the connection to the VP with a heavy plate. The number in my post above is the part you want. I don’t know if a Dodge garage will have it. Cummins will, and it was less than $50 when I bought it a few years ago.

Thanks for the info
Maybe Cummins replaced mine when they changed the VP last time (I hope)

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Only better price I've seen is from Pensacola Diesel Inc for 995 on yur front steps. Get a lift pump from them at same time, unless positive you're good.
