Vp Install Question

Hey guys, I started a previous post about my truck dyin on me earlier. I put a FASS on it and I just got my VP in. I have a 02 HO engine with a six speed, but i thought the pump for these motors are supposed to have an 028 stamped on them. The pump I got has an 027 on it. Problem or not? I thought a while back I read a post about how it could help performance but I cant find it anywhere. Thanks.

PS. anyone want to buy a stock lift pump with 150k on it?

As I understand it, the SO (027) pump is capable of making more power than the HO pumps due to larger internal parts for flowing more fuel. The HO pump internals are smaller and run at a higher pressure to build power with the closer to stock injectors. I do not know if you will have any issues running an HO truck with an SO pump, since the computers are not the same? Someone else might have a better idea how everything will work. I do know that any performance boxes or smarty will be able to wake the pump up but good!

A SO pump will not harm anything on an eng. that had a HO pump. You will get better HP results with a SO when you have perf. upgrades like your edge juice.

Thanks guys, Ill try the 027 pump. Im putting it in today, hopefully i wont hit any speed bumps when doing this. I just woke up and its **** cold outside!
Also, is there a break-in period for these pumps. Like i cant just get it running take it down the street, and leave a smoke trail? Or do i have to drive a couple miles before any performance mods can be hooked up?

I think they recommend putting so many miles on it before you tap the pump wire, but I'm not sure how far. Just be glad you have a module on yours. I put a SO on my HO about 3,000miles ago, and man did it kill my power. I'm planning on a module and injectors fruther on down the road so thats why I did it.

Yeah i wasn't going to tap into it for a while. I wont have to worry about that too soon though. I put my pump in this weekend (first time ever doing this job so i took my sweet old time) and everything was going fine. Tightened everything up, checked for leaks, took it for a spin, and it felt like a new truck. Awesome. Then i came back, opened the hood and fuel was leaking all over. It's coming from the pump itself! Definatley not coming from the lines, I made sure of that. Me, being such a smart person didnt have my fuel gauge on yet so i didnt know i was losing any pressure. Great huh?! Took everything back off, checked the torque screws and about half of them were loose! Especially the two that held some kind of plate on to the bottom of the pump. Not too sure its purpose but i can tell you it was leakin pretty bad. Popped it back in and same thing happened just not as bad. Runs good for about five min then starts sounding like a misfire in a gas engine. Called the place i ordered it from today and they were pretty good about sendin me a new one. Just have to wait i guess..... Yeah, and if anyone is unsure about doing this themselves, PM me if you live in the central jersey area i can take a vp out and put one in, in about and hour, hour and a half (im sure most people on this site can after doin one)
