VP to CR 5.9 block differences?

Guys, can anybody tell me if there are any differences between an '03/'04 CR block and my '01 ?
I'm looking to buy a complete bottom end and put my '01 head on it. Will it work? Is the cam the same?
Thanks for any info?

Blocks are different, timing case won't bolt up to the CR block. Cam's are different. CR's use straight cut gears, the rest use helical gears.

Thanks for the input Tate, but I found a complete motor minus the CR head so I would'nt have to use my current timing case. Do you know if I'd be able to use the VP and just put a straight cut gear on it?
I really hate to pass this up...it's an '03 motor with 12k miles for $800
Any way to make it work?

For a little background, this is why I'd like to get the '03 motor...

Then I can take the time and really go through my knocking motor...

Timing case is what the VP bolts to and contains the gears. You need to use the VP case to use a VP pump. CR case is completely different and won't allow a VP at all. Unless you drill and tap the block to accept the old style timing cases, you're SOL.

Would be much easier to just find a complete CR to swap in instead of converting a VP to CR.

No im not talking about converting a 24 valve to a CP3 im sayin why cant u use the whole common rail motor instead of putting the VP on the new motor?

I believe you can get a harness from Painless wiring, that will allow you to stuff the CR engine in there, I think the last time I looked it was around 1000$ expensive but it would eliminate alot of wiring headaches
