VP-44 rebuilders ?
VP-44 rebuilders ?
I had a VP-44 go bad when my lift pump went south.
It ran fine after I put a new lift pump in , except when the truck was warm it didnt want to start. Common problem after starving the VP-44 with a bad lift pump.
So after that, I order a "rebuilt " VP-44 from a guy who is on this site. He runs a business out of Texas. It was Edwards Equipment Co. out of Granbury TX. I get the pump, pull it out of the shipping box and I can still see some grime in the nooks and crannies. I then get the feeling it was a semi cleaned-up pump off of a wrecked truck or something. I seriously doubt that it was re-built. I paid him a thousand dollars for it. Well, I need my truck back in running condition badly ! So I didnt dispute the shipment. I installed it. It ran ok, but when the truck is all warmed up it idles kind of rough. A couple years later I installed some upgraded injectors in the truck. It had 220,000 miles on it by then so I figured it was just time for new injectors. Now it idles even rougher after the truck warms up. It idles fine when cold. So I'm figuring its the supposed "rebuilt" VP-44 that is the culprit of the rough idle.
I still have the old original core VP-44. I would like to get it rebuilt by a Bosch certified rebuilder if possible.
-Does anyone know of one ? I am willing to ship it to them.
-Are they re-buildable after they have been starved by a lift pump failure ?
- If so, what is the cost for a re-build if I have a core ?
Thanks in advance for your kind replies.
I love this site ! It has been a great help over the years.

I got mine from Industrial Injection. They shipped a rebuilt one and I returned my core for the core charge. You might give them a call they did a great job for me and even broke mine down when I sent it back to tell me what failed.
Valley pump and turbo woodland Ca. near Sacramento he has the machines that run the pumps off the trucks for 4 hours and the computer watches all aspects of it for the 4 hour run time before it passes
