Any rebuilders of 48RE yet?

The weak of the drivetrain on any diesel pickup is often the automatic tranny.

My Ford has an automatic tranny that has been rebuilt to handle more power and to handle heavy towing.

Is anyone rebuilding the 48RE so it is pretty much bullet proof? I'm not convinced Dodge is building an automatic tranny that handle 305HP and 555 lbs torque over the long haul.

We are towing alot as we are on the road full time. We have the 48RE and have been thinking about beefing up the tranny to handle the load as much as we travel. One of our concerns are of course the exhaust brake that Jacobs will not be installing on the 03's. Will keep everyone posted on what we end up doing but we need to first find a reliable tranny shop that have alot of reputable experience with this type of work.

I talked with Bill Kondolay of Diesel Transmission Technology at PDR Dynomania last week about the 48RE. Bill said that the designers and builders of this transmission have incorperated several of his idea into this transmission. He said that it is a good trans and should hold up to about 400 to 420 before need performance increases. Of course this depends on how you drive and if you tow heavy 10,000#s plus, on a regular schedule, you may want to consider the performance increases. Bill was very positive about this new trans.

Of course, I did have a concern being that I have an 04 dually with a 48RE ordered.
