DD....that vid is TO GOOD TO BE TRUE....i am soooo green to the diesel world and your explaination of the tools and most importantly the VP was awsome....you took your time and that is the most important thing...like when explaining the key way...and its importance...how to identify your model etc.....

that was great....

cant wait for the second cut..."the install"

keep up the good work and that should/has to go into the "HOW TO" archives for someone to ALWAYS be able to access!!!!!!

Nice job, Dan! After watching your videos, I'll feel much more confident about doing it myself when mine goes. Reading about it in a manual just doesn't give all you need. Thanks!

BTW, any chance of getting a copy to save on my computer?

Great video Dan.

The only thing I would suggest is using the factory crankshaft barring tool in lieu of turning the crank over via the alternator nut. Not absolutely necessary, but nice to have if you do a fair share of pump swaps.

The way I look at the barring tool is this way...by the time you get under the truck, pull the plug and get the tool set....i would have had the key way pointed up using the alt nut even if i had to do a 360* turn on the engine.......only time i have found the barring tool useful is on 12V Timing adjustments...although i have never personally done one...just seen them done....you have to get the back lash out of the gear so you are going clockwise and counterclockwise a lot. BUT if you were not in a rush and had the tool......it would work just fine......

Saw a baring tool mounted on the end of a 4-5' steel rod so could be turned from up top! Was very slick but won't work with twins....to much plumbing in the way.

Here's the link to download the video file:

http://uploadfile2.putfile.com/getfi...4793196204.flv

it's in .FLV format. I don't know if Windows Media Player will play it, but the freeware VLC player (www.videolan.org/vlc) will work on both PCs and Macs.

Great info! Thanks for putting the extra time and effort!

Great start, well done and looking forward to seeing the rest. Thanks for taking the time to do this

Not sure why but there is no "download this file" button under the player as the Putfile FAQ says there should be, you can view it then copy it from you temp internet files.
