Question Turbocharger exhaust fin question

I had a thought the other day, I know our CTD's can blow some soot. I know some of that cakes up on the walls of the exhaust pipe. Does the soot stick to the turbo blades, or is the gas velocity to fast for it to stick? I was wondering since caked up blades might could reduce efficiency.

I would think coating would be minimal at worst...

As long as you get your EGTs up to 1200F (pre turbo) once in a while the soot won't be a problem on the fins. Velocity and tempreature are way higher in the turbine than in any part of the exhaust that's behind it.

the velocity is much too high in the turbine too cause the soot too settle.....Plus the temps are too high.....Carbon soot will not solidify, or cake up the walls of your exhuast untill the temps are below 295 deg F. So usually that temp is attained right beneath the cab of the truck, unless you have a cat.....because the cat brings the temps back up into the 12-1500 deg range.
