turbo question

ive owned my dodge for about eight months and month or so after i got the truck i added an EGT Guage and boost guage, and from then on i have only been able to make 11psi of boost and then i found the BD boost elbow and that bumped up the boost to 18psi but when it gets there the turbo go almost silent and seems to have a little whine, ive been trying to figure options as to why my turbos not building the 20-22 psi boost that Holset says it should do from the factory.

02 dodge 6spd 3500 4x4
kn filter
BD boost elbow
other than that stock.

I'd check all your intercooler boots for leaks first off

When was your last fuel filter change? I would check fuel pressure. Check your air filter too. You could also check exhaust and make sure its not plugged in any way.

Check fuel pressure and make sure you have pressure under load. Any pressure is better then none but I never like to see anything under 10 to 8. I use to get about six months on a lift pump till I got the Fass HPFP and now no worries.

I am no expert, but I read somewhere that the pcm defuels when the boost hits 18-19 lbs unless there is a boost fooler installed where as the pcm thinks the boost is whithin this range.
