You would have to step up to a 4" downpipe.
Also you'd better have the fuel to move it or it will a bit laggy down low and piontless on top.

Fill out a sig on your truck so we can better help you with your questions

Welcome to DTR Rattlbox!......As Mike already mentioned, fill out your sig....it helps everyone help you better.....If you have a HX35 (the stocker for 5 & 6spds and 98 & 99 Auto's) it should provide enough air for about 350 hp if you are careful and have an egt gauge......the efficient boost limit for the HX35 is 35 psi....past 35 psi the air charge gets super-heated from an overspeeding turbo and you start to run into egt problems and power drops off. If you have a 00 - 02 Auto, you have the little HY35 with the smallish 9cm housing that quickly runs out of breath and will not support much more fuel over stock without running into egt problems quickly.

If you swap to a HX40 you should step up tp 4" exhaust if you haven't already because it does require that you use a 4" down pipe as Mike mentioned.....These days, there are much better turbos out there for CTD's that out perform the HX40 and are more durable.....Look into the B1 line of turbos and High tech turbo for some better options.
