Turbo

Yesterday I blew my turbo, could this be a result of me cutting off my muffler and resinator for a total start pipe?
Also could use some pointers on how to replace a factory turbo.

Re:Turbo

It could be from not letting your turbo cool off before you shut it down. All the ctd,s ive, had two before these had straight pipe and i put over a 100k on each and didnt have a turbo problem

Re:Turbo

How'd you blow it?

What EGT and Boost were you seeing?

It's not the straight pipe, I've put 40K on my truck straight piped. I know of two people with 200K and both are straight piped, with Factory turbos.

Re:Turbo

I don't know what my EGT's are but, other than the straight pipe and a power puck i'm 100% stock.

Re:Turbo

Did you possibly blow or have a intercooler boot come loose and over spin the turbo?

Is there good flow on the oil supply and return to the turbo?

Re:Turbo

How "Blown" is Blown? Sure ya didn't pop off an intercooler boot? Stock hy and hx 35 turbos are tough to blow. at one time I ran DD3's with my blue chip and barked the daylights out of it (Stock HY35) day after day before my PDR 40 and for all I know it's on someones truck now happy as can be.

Atleast it's not a 6.0L PowerStroke,, those conditions are considered normal.

(Not trying to bash the Ford, but that's all I can recall after spending two hours over at TheDieselStop.com)
