truck won't start

I have a 99 3/4 ton truck. Has 280,000 miles on it. I started it to let it warm up. After it cranked it died. It will turn over byt nothing happens. Changed the fuel filter. As you may have figured out I am no mechanic. Glad I found you guys. Where do I start?

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge if so what is the pressure, if not you should. If you "bump" the starter (just slightly engage the starter but do not start it) the LP pump should run for 25 seconds can you hear it run? if not then check for power at the pump, chances are the LP pump has died if you have no codes. Are you sure you have enough fuel in the tank as fuel gauges are not reliable and is the fuel good fuel. Once you can get fuel pumping to the VP then crack 1 2 and 4 injector lines and crank until fuel starts to show, it should start to fire at this point start closing the fuel lines.

I bumped the starter and the LP ran for 25 seconds and filled the filter canister which I had emptied. I than cracked the injector lines, rotated the engine and did not get any fuel out of them. I than cracked the line going from my filter canister at the injector pump and fuel came out. I than cracked a line coming out of the injector pump and rotated the engine and no fuel came out.

If you can get fuel to the VP but non out the injector lines when cranking I would next check for codes. You will need a code reader as yours won't read by the key on/off method.

Sounds like you have fuel to the pump, Now you need to finish troubleshooting via the instructions on Blue Chip Diesels page. 1st check for voltage and ground [URL="http://www.bluechipdiesel.com/vp44diagnostichelp.html"]
