Sounds like the Ol VP44 is about to go out. Do a search on the VP44 and you will see.

check your lift pump and try a APPS reset if you go to auto zone and run the codes look for 0216 thats your Injector pump (RIP)

slow truck

Does the engine sound tinny? Undo the ?? 6 bolts on the APPS and look at the voltage stated on the POT on the back. If you have a multi meter check the voltage on the orange wire at the PCM. The adjustment for it is easy and for the 6 weeks that mine lasted was noticable. It's back to the rev and scream but little power till after 1600. Being passed by a mini van on the hiway before I can get it going is annoying.

I HOPE it's fixable with an APPS calibration, but it sure sounds like a VP44 (especially as it shows the effect when hot); I didn't see a FP gauge in your signature....?

i do have fp guage 14 psi at idle and never goes under 9 psi on heavy accelerate. do i check voltage with key on and no throttle or do i check while working throttle. anyway i hope it is fixable with apps also. just replaced vp 44 and lift pump lessthan 10,00 miles ago. after the 2 or 3 sec dead spot the truck runs like a beat dog and fuel does not go under 9 psi and the motor builds good boost any way thanks for you guys thoughts on this

My truck did the exact same thing. They had to replace the lift pump and the injection pump. Check your codes and see if it shows anything. Even if they just replace the lift pump the vp44 might not be far behind going out.
