Truck Shut Off On Highway Going 70!!

About three hours to pull it off.....(many trips to the garage for that RIGHT sized wrench/socket)
About three hours to put it back on and get it fired up.
I have a 30 X 30 garage with a kerosene heater.....but the truck was parked on the curb (again) so the surgery was performed in 40 degree temps working with a fluorescent trouble light as it got dark (again).
New house will have access for a truck to get to the front of the garage.
Current house has a low roofed carport that anything much larger that a standard van (much less a rollback with my truck on top) can't get under.
UPDATE:
Hey guys, i installed the fass. Very simple, except when your doing it in the street in thirty degree weather.
It wasnt bad though. Still no start. It cranks but no start. I did crack the lines coming off the side of the VP as per numerous posts on the site, but everytime one line would be leaking fuel the others would be dry. I must have cranked the engine bout 20-25 times. I kept thinking that the pump must have been primed by now, but i would look and only one line would have fuel. Don't know......I was out in the rain for about two hours had to go in when it got too bad.
Im sure that my VP is fine but me taking too long to prime it probably ruined it.
I also found something interesting while I was underneath the truck...My filler tube has a huge hole in it. Big enough to fit my finger through. Its actually the overflow tube right next to the filler. Ill call around and see when i could get one of those after the holidays.
Thanks for all the help guys. Ill post a pic of the hole tommorow. Happy Holidays.

Our toys do get spendy dont they?
If you're replacing the VP44, I'd recommend something OTHER than the blackbox Chrysler replacement. I put a Bosch in mine, and HOPE it get more than 89k I got out of the first, and I've already gotten WAY over the just under 10k I got out of the second (blackbox OEM replacement). I also was happy w/ the FASS system, and it actually seemed to make my truck feel like it has more power, but that may be because it's actually getting enough fuel now.
