It's in the "tech facts" section. Key on, off, on, off, on (on, not start). Codes, if any will read in odometer and follow by P Done. Try it, see if you see 0216.

That's what mine was doing when the VP44 was dying.

Idled like crap every other start or so, but ran fine at speed, then would miss again when engine speed got down below 1K.

Never got any codes, and I'm still running the original lift pump.

From the title of your post I thought your truck was stolen! Better to have to replace the VP44 than the truck.

Mine has been missing intermittently for the last couple of months. I, too, am trying to troubleshoot it, but the last thing I'm going to look at is the IP. Mine was replaced about 30k ago. I'm looking long and hard at injectors. I don't have any codes either. I'm sure there's a multitude of things to look at before you start spending the money for your mods.

Hey guys, maybe your looking too deep by going to the VP44 so soon. Try going back to basics first. What does this engine need to run? Air, fuel and compression. If it doesnt get any of those it can miss-fire.

So possibilities are: Air, clogged intake (not that likly); Fuel, vp44 missing, clogged injector, damaged clogged high pressure line, crimped low pressure line (this can give a false good reading or a slightly high reading on your fuel pressure, you can double check by doing the volume test). The only thing this problems would probably affect all of the engine. Does this sound like its one cyclinder? If so it might be sticking valve/s (no compression in a cyclinder) or sticking injector (no fuel/not enough fuel). Before you go for the MAJOR fix, try a decent injector cleaner. That dont work, try a compression test (this is a bit more in depth tech work).

Some times it is a bad thing our engines dont make vacuum, so much easier to diagnose with vacuum.

Ok, only thing on all data that I can find on compression is a 16.5:1 ratio. Perhaps thats not the best way to diagnose the missfireing piston.

You may just have a bad injector. The tolerances inside the tip are quite small. I have a set right now that was claimed to be missfiring, and upon disassembly the pintle was siezed in one of the nozzels. Just throwin it out there..............

As I said before, mine has been missing for a while and yesterday it threw a code ... P0122-TPS circuit low. I think I'm going to replace the map sensor too, when I do the TPS. Hope this helps!
