Trouble shooting a TPS problem

Pulled the codes on my truck and it called for a bad TPS...They're $534 and i really dont want to spend that just to find out the sensor is good but a wire is bad. So any pointers on trouble shooting a bad TPS?
Thanks
COdy

familiar recent problem for me...if you have access to a computer/scanner, you can monitor the throttle % and voltage and that should give you a pretty good indication. You can also try borrowing one from a friend and see if it makes a difference.

You might just have to man up and pay for it. I paid $409 for mine from Cummins

What kind of symptoms are you seeing other than the code?

Before you buy a new one, it might not hurt to try this:

Thanks Can17! Adjusting the voltage did the trick...it was doin it as many as 6 times a day and since I adjusted it it hasnt done it since. The voltage was really low. It was bouncing beween 0.3 and 0.2 on my PowerProbe and the stick on the TPS said 0.488 so I got it advanced to 0.485-0.490.
Thanks Again!
