Pat Daly- I tried again and no luck, time to rebuild.

Dieselwerk- Did you ever get to surf at San Onofre ?, Thanks for serving our country and the info , I will look into Buds Diesel I am starting to ask around for good transmission guy.

AlpineRam-I could probably do it, not ever working on automatic transmissions, it is more a matter of time for me. Thanks for the help, I will look for more performance parts installed on next rebuild.

Keep informed on progress,
Mike

Yes when I was there I spent alot of time at North Trestles. Some times it was just to paddle out and lying on the long board having a cold one. Up here you need alot more than a rash guard or spring suit to deal with frigid waters. just not the same. Plus surf up here at certain spots when the salmon are running and you have a great chance to see more chomp chomp's in the water feeding off the running salmon.

I should give paddle boarding a try. With a shotgun..
Maybe that could be a sport. They do paddle board trips on some of the calm rivers here in oregon during summer. Some have guides who take you fishing same time.
Why not with a shotgun around the sharks lol. I would be strung up by the tree hugs we have here.

I picked up my truck from Dave at Orange County Transmission. I spent a week trying to find a good honest shop. Dave came well recomended, so I had my truck towed 26 miles to his shop.

The problem was mechanical, Torque Converter cover was pulling away from motor and the stator was worn. He explained that fluid was by passing somthing?

He replaced the converter with a Billet cover and rebuilt the tranny.
He also replaced the output slip yoke from transfer case, 2 universal joints and balanced axle at my request.

$2900.00 and it runs better than ever. The last tranny was a factory rebuild by local dodge dealer 7 years ago and $3800.00 and it did not shift well and had to return it ...dealer said it was a quart low, but it always seemed off.

Thanks to PatDaly for always helping people on this site.

Dieselwrks and Alpine Ram thank you, I see you guys answering people's problems.

Thanks, Mike

Wow, make sure you buy that guy a case of his favorite adult beverages.....!

For that much work I would have easily expected the 3900 bill....

We really need a map on here with DTR approved good guy shops.

It really isn't free advertising, we routinely share the names of those who have done us good, just can't really slam bad ones too much past saying things like "I would never go there again" or something like that.

It would be cool, especially in this age of cell phone internet access to have a listing of known good shops across this country for a person on the road to access.........
