I have a leak coming from the passenger side cooler line at the quick connection. I know that it is not the hose that is leaking. I did notice that the hose had some tension, therefore may be the reason for the leak at the o-ring. I suspect the o-ring went bad. I went to a local Hoseman and had them press-fit the existing quick disconnect to a new hose with a longer lead(10 bucks).

Does anybody know what size that o-ring is? Don't really feel like spending 85 bucks on a whole new assembly line(autozone).

Pretty vauge description..... Are you talking about where the lines connect to the heat exchanger? If so it confuses me as those lines on an 01 screw on. Only quick connects I can think of off the top of my head are the two at the front of the truck (LF under/behind bumper).

 

No, on my truck i have worm-gear hose clamps that connect to the heat exchanger. On the other end i have quick connect fitting that is stock. If you look within Autozone website under "tranmission cooler lines", you will be able to see the type of hose that i need. All i need is an o-ring within this assembly to re-install. I do not know what size the o-ring is. Thanks for the reply.

 

okay ya'll i found it!!! If anyone has a leak coming from the front, but have no idea where it is coming from, i.e. oil stain that looks like transmission oil, but not coming from transmission pan, than your problem is coming from your transmission cooler lines. The o-ring fails at the 1/2" quick connect fitting, therefore transmission oil leaks from this point. o-ring is a 1/2"(ID) X 11/16"(OD)X 3/32" (Cross Section) Nitrile, hydrogenated(HNBR 70) green o-ring. Line overheats which causes o-ring failure. I am going to install and let you know results.

 

Update! I finally installed the o-ring and it still leaked. turns out the quick connect fitting with o-ring was not the problem. The problem exists at the male connection of cooler line due to wear and tear. I am sure glad i did not drop 80 bucks on a new hose.

Is there some type of other quick connect fitting "AN-fitting" that i can install where i do not have this problem again? Any feedback would be appreciated

 

.....you're still wrong. It's leaking at a crack on the hard line right where the crimp is made that holds the line in the quick connect. Get a line at the dealer.

 

I checked the hard line and there is no crack, not even a hairline fracture. I removed the quick connect fitting and added two worm-gear hose clamps. This fixed the problem. Thanks J-Body for your input.

 

I put new Trans hard lines on my 01 and have the same leak you had. I realy dont want to just cut the quick link out and clamp on a ribless hard line hose end. What I have done in the past with this sort of problem is soft solder a raised rib (barb)on the end of the hard line and then hose clamp it. I should not have assumed the new hard line would be leak free. altho the other new one is fine. Its a crapy QD design.

 

how is this holding? we have a leak problem and i really feel like just cutting the end off and hose clamping it
