'02 2500 Auto 4x4 ~ So I've got the ability to get my hands on an np271. What I'm wondering is; is it worth swapping into my '02? Should I worry about getting the new t-case or should I use the money to rebuild my np241dld?

 

The 271 will go in with some tweaking of the frame rail ( clearance ). I am not sure it is really all that worthwhile unless you are pulling hard.

I guess the question is, what makes you think you need more than a stock 241?

 

Basically, my 241 is leaking and I can't seem to find where it is coming from. So, what I was thinking was put the "new" case in and go from there. If it's going to be cheaper to rebuild the 241 that's the route I'll go.

 

An easier swap would be a 241DHD. There will still be things you'll have to change in order to get everything buttoned up but it wont be as hard as fitting the 271.

 

Okay perfect! I'll look into finding one hopefully.

 

I got one in the shop, it is a '94-'97 style 241 DHD auto 23 spline, but would work fine.
