I have a 2002 3500 Dually 5 speed with 185 K miles.............. the transfer case keeps jumping from 2 wheel drive to Neutral........so everytime i need to stop and put it back into 2 wheel drive... any ideas ??????????

 

sounds like the shifter needs to be re-alligned. I've never done this on the dodges, but i think they are the same as the older chevs. There should be a section in your manual explaining the procedure. If that doesn't work, must be inside.

 

Don't think tightening fuel cap will fix. You can beat the bushes for fixes, but TC will need internal repairs. It is not difficult, but be advised a FSM is of great benefit. Most any 4WD shop can fix easily.

 

Yes tc needs internal repairs. Mine started doing what yours is earlier this year and in 4wd it was awful sounding. I made it thru a wet hunting season chained up on narrow deep rutted mtn roads draggin a heavy steel horse trailer without it braking. I found a used tc and swapped it out today.
