I personally feel that synthetic in the trans is a good idea. I use amsoil but there are several other brands out there that are high quality as well.

Re:trans. fluid..synthetic?

I haven't seen any synthetic fluid that meets the chrysler ATF+4 specs except Amsoil. That's what I am switching too in a week or two...

Tony

Re:trans. fluid..synthetic?

I sent an e-mail recently to the tech folks at Royal Purple. They told me to wait until the 3/36K warranty period was up before making the switch to any synthetic. Meeting the ATF+4 specification is purely a warranty issue on D/C's part.

I have read where owners are using Amsoil, Red Line Synthetic, or Royal Purple Synthetic ATF without any problems. Many synthetic transmission fluids meet FoMoCo Dexron/Mercon V or GM Dexron IV. Few manufacturers mention their product's meeting D/C's ATF+X. specifications. Amsoil may be one that does meet ATF+4.

Any of the aboved mentioned brands should provide good service. Price and availablility will dictate your choice.

Hope this helps.

Jim

Re:trans. fluid..synthetic?

ATF+4 synthetic from local Dodge dealer was $28.45 per gallon. $32.75 was the original list price. Buying it by the quart is $10.00 per qt!!
