Yeah, ATF+4 in yours. I am about to do mine (not flush). I think the dealer has the lock down on the +4, I checked three places yesterday, none had it.

I think it's like $4.79 a quart?

There is a school of thought that believes flushing is bad as it can push free floating crud into places it shouldn't be, and normally wouldn't be able to get to.

Depends on if you are the transmission shop or the customer.

Why? phox hit it right on the head and he is right. That being said if you are the shop there is a good chance you maybe getting another tranny job out of the deal. Of course if it's your truck and you don't want a new transmission right now you may want to rethink the flush.

If you flush the tranny by using the pressure line and putting fluid in the top at the same time, then in my simple mind, this is no different than when oil is circulating through the system during normmal operation?---correct me if i'm wrong

Putting oil at the top at the same time? Are you saying down the filler/dipstick? If so what difference would that make? Where is it fluid at that people are really need to flush?

If you have figured out something that other tranny shops haven't rock on. Other wise I always advise people not to do this with their truck. And if it is a freind I simply won't allow it.

Would changing the filter and cleaning the pan before flushing be any better or just Don't do the trans flush?
I've always heard that the trans flush is a good thing.
If it is so bad i'll save some bucks and just change the fluid myself.

Matt Auge has sent me some P.M.s with detailed explainations of how he flushes his transmissions. I do all my servicing work too. There is a most ideal way and some much easier wrong ways to do things like this. I am not trying to play fear factor but rather is it worth the risk? None of my freinds flush their tranny in their Dodges. But they all do scheduled tranny oil/filter changes and they have all have over 100,000 trouble free miles these guys runs stock power as well. I am not the transmission authority by no means just giving my point of view on the subject.
