Trans cooler lines leaking, question
Trans cooler lines leaking, question
I've done some searching and am needing clarification. I am chasing leaks on the truck in my sig. It appears the trans cooler lines are leaking up front, where the rubber hose/hard line fittings are. Can I re-seal these in anyway with a new o-ring? Or is it a new line issue? What about just rubber hose and a clamp? Don't want it rigged, just looking for feedback. Thanks.
Rubber line and hose clamps is what a very well respected local shop here suggested to me and what they do. I didn't do that though. I used a cutoff wheel and cut the fitting off and just clamped the original line a couple years ago. Still working.
Is there enough play in the rubber hose to just cut the connection out, then slip the old rubber hose over the hard line? I'll take a look after work. That would probably make an easier fix. Thanks.
If you decide to use the trick of clamping the rubber hose over the hard line, check every so often that the hose clamps are tight. I did this and after a couple years the hose blew off and gave my truck a nice transmission fluid undercoating. So i just went ahead and bought the new hoses. Just a suggestion. Good luck.
