it is a 2002 dodge ram 2500 quad cad 2x4 cummins diesel turbo. Fuild in tranny was changed by dealer 4 months ago, no idea if it was +3 +3 or if it was mixed. 2 wks ago tranny started to surge when changeing gears. When it gets to 35mph it will not lock in until picking up speed slowly. Also does this from 45mph to 51mph and when it changes to overdrive @ 54mph it has no problem. If i start from a dead stand still going from 0 to 55mph and it changes into overdrive it has no problem. Only has problem when staying @ 45 to 55mph on roadway.

**PS-have talked to dealership mechanic and he says the problem may be two things: selnoid on outside of tranny or could be inside of torque converter.

 

Any solenoid would be inside the trans. I'm not getting the picture from your description, but it may be possible that you are experiencing a torque converter clutch engage/disengage issue. Welcome to the site and fill out your signature so we can see what yer running.

 

Sounds like the converter locking and unlocking. Do a search in this. Probably caused by electrical noise - Call DTT and get a noise filter, $40, 1 866 504 6002
