Tranny/transfer case weight?
I have to drop my 5 speed and transfer case and was wondering what the weight was to ensure my tranny jack will do. I could split the transfer case off but if don't have to I would rather not. Thanks

SPLIT IT. I made this mistake and broke my 350# jack. I took it out in two peices, no problem, tried to put it back as one, big problem. Aside from the weight it was impossible to ballance on the jack. As soon as you clear the bell housing it will probably twist on the jack even with the straps and it is way to heavy to catch. I had a scissor type jack that the screw that raised/lowered itbroke into peices, I was just glad there wasn't any fingers in there when it went.

im dropping my beast of a 6speed this weekend and leaving it mated...but i am using an ATV jack that is large and wide with a rating of 1500lbs. and a custom made cradle to support and tie down the tranny to prevent a roll over
