TRANNY Sensors HELP 47RE
TRANNY Sensors HELP 47RE
I have a problem with my 47RE, wont upshift from 2nd to 3rd when cold and then it's very hard to get to the 3rd gear...rmps goes on, I push and leave the gas pedal untill it engaged...
I wanna try first replacing the sensors: my 47RE has 4 sensors; 2 internal and 2 external; internal, in the oil pan I have a PRESSURE SENSOR and the SOLENOID; externally, on the DRIVER side I have 2 sens, 1 near the linkage, over the oil pan and one on the trans tail(near output shaft).
went to chrysler they have 2 identical external sensors serching with the VIN, but instead I have 2 different sens ext!! the one near the linkage has a 3wires connector! not 2wires like the one on the output shaft!!!
They not give me any answer!! yours PC tell this!!
Anyone can help me finding this sensor? I think it the sens that tells what gear the trans is..

bill is right. the one that usually cause problems upshifting is the governor pressure switch, and it is located on the valve body inside the pan. there is also a governor pressure transducer in there too. then you have the speed sensor on the tail end on the outside of the tranny.
thanks a lot! the backup light park switch!
I don't think it's part of my problem...??
I have already bought the PRESSURE SENS in the pan and try replacing next day.. The GOVERNOR TRANSDUCER is the SOLENOID?? It indicates what gear tranny is in?? at the dealer they have it for about 180 USD!!(here in italy) why so much? where I can find it for less, even on the web...

there is nothing that actually tells the computer what gear the transmission is in ( park rev drive low ) as for the parts in the trans. one is a duty cycle solenoid to build governor pressure whitch will go up as road speed goes up the other part tells the computer what that pressure is. as an example, you have a road speed of 50 MPH, the computer commands 55 PSI governor pressure to the solenoid at 20 percent duty cycle. it will than see what the transducer shows what actual pressure is and if not at 55 PSI it will adjust the duty cycle till it is at 55 PSI.

do you think I can try replacing the solenoid and press sensor before say, my tranny needs a rebuild?? I haven't no problem(only hard shift when cold) before oil and filter change!!
I think my trans cannot achieve the correct pressure to push in the 3rd...if I kickdown it or push hard on the gas it engage! maybe due to the viscosity of the clean new oil instead old??
I saw a few "dust" in my pan..

you can try the 2 in the transmission if you all ready have them. if you have access to a scan tool you can watch if they are working properly along the speed sensor. the 2 in the pan are known trouble makers and with high mileage it is probably worth changing as maintenance anyway.

it could be a governor pressure problem or a sensor problem. if you have a 0-100 PSI gauge and a 6 foot long hose you could see what governor pressure it is making. there is a 1/8 pipe plug on the passenger side just in front of the output housing and near the top of the case. it should make about 1 psi per MPH. the part in the picture is the OD and TCC shift solenoids and not what you need.
