Tranny Line Fitting Sizes?

I will be odering my Suncoast tranny tomarrow and I will be replacing all the cooler lines while I'm at it. I dont want factory lines, so please dont give me part numbers for those. I am going to be using a braided steel Hydraulic hose. This will hold up better to chaffing and alot easier to deal with. All I need to know is what are the sizes of the fittings that go into the tranny and heat exchanger. And also, does anyone know if they are straight or tapered thread? Anyone have any pics of the fittings off the truck? That would be pretty helpful. I would like to have the hoses made before I pull the exsisting tranny and lines.

I read somewhere that all the lines on the motor are metric straight thread. Doesn't help you, but maybe it will give you an idea where to look.

Hydraulic lines are good, but they will still chafe through if they rub. Once the steel is revealed it's not long before it weakens and you get the same thing. Factory hard lines fit in the original brackets also.

Good luck, I don't listen to other peoples arguments either, but thought I'd throw in food for thought while you are waiting on your lines to be made up.

Yes you are correct, but factory hard lines are 10 times the amount of hydraulic lines. And you can get preventative measures to protect the hoses from chaffing. Or at least slow it down.

I'd like to know the fitting sizes also. I've seen somewhere that they are straight pipe thread.

I think I have read that the Tranny fittings are 1/4"NPT and the Heat Exchanger threads are 3/8"NPT. But can anyone confirm this?

Well the tranny should be in tomarrow or Tuesday, so I started pulling the cooler lines so I could find out what size the fittings are. Well I took the back line on the tranny off first. Put a socket on the adapter fitting in the tranny and SNAP. It broke right off. Ok on to the front one. It came right out and it is a 1/4"NPT. I dont have the heat exchanger ones off, because I dont have a 23mm deep well socket. I'll have to borrow one tomarrow.
