Tranny Help.

I have owned this truck for about 8months now and ever since I bought it when you are driving slow and the transmission shifts from 1st to second it jumps in and out but as soon as you give it more juice it goes right it and if you excellerate from a stop it goes in fine but at low speeds it acts like it doesn't want to go into second gear....thanks

Condition generally called shuttle shift. Not life threatning. There was a bulletin at some time for replacement of gov solenoid with improved action.
Description: Light steady throttle governor pressure causes 1-2 shift valve to upshift. During shift, line pressure drops slightlly while filling KD servo. Line pressure drop causes governor pressure to also drop and guess what? It falls back out of second gear only to repeat itself again. The other version is governor pressure solenoid is to lax in controlling governor pressure, with the same results.
Like you say you can drive right through the issue. By the way, the old mechancial governored trannys would do the same thing 40 years ago. If you are in a funeral prosession just slide tranny into manual low below 18.3 MPH. JMHO

Thats what I figured thanks a million man....do you happen to know the cost of a solenoid and maybe how much of a pain it is to change, I need to change the tranny fluid and adjust the bands and would like to change the solenoid at the same time if I can afford it

Not sure of cost at dealer. This would perhaps be only source of UPGRADED solenoid. There are aftermarket sources, but not sure of quality.
Very easy to install during tranny service. Bolts onto VB.
